Instructions for Initial Lab Work


You will receive a lab slip at your first prenatal visit to get your initial lab work. Lab work should be done as soon as possible and before your next scheduled visit in our office so we will have your results when you come in. There are no fasting tests and it can be done at any time of the day. Standard lab work ordered will be:

 

  • Prenatal profile - which is a blood typing and screen and a CBC
  • Antibody Screen - To check for any antibodies in your blood.
  • Hepatitis - To make sure you are not a hepatitis carrier.
  • Rubella - To see if you are immune to the measles.
  • Urine Culture - To check for urinary tract infections.

 

If you should desire to have an HIV test, it can be added at this time. Any additional testing that the midwives should feel necessary may be added.

If you get your lab work done at Jeannette Hospital, you will need to register at the outpatient desk. Please have your lab slip and your insurance information.

Results will reach our office with in 2 -3 days. We will contact you if there are any abnormalities or problems, but feel free to call us if you are concerned. 724-527-9159
