The Family Nurse Midwives Associates are pleased to announce the arrival of our new birth ball. 

This 29 inch ball is very helpful in promoting comfort and movement in labor.  During the first stage of labor when the cervix is opening, upright positions can speed labor, promote blood flow to the baby, facilitate optimal positioning of the baby's head, and increase comfort.  The birth ball can be used for sitting on, or for upper body support when in hands and knees position.  It is especially useful for women experiencing back pain in labor.  Many women find comfort and relaxation in the rhythmic rocking that sitting on the ball allows.  We are happy to offer this additional option for your comfort in labor.
